POSITION DESCRIPTION
DBL Law is seeking Paralegal to join our team in Covington, Kentucky. The paralegal should be equipped with the knowledge and expertise to support a supervising attorney and enhance attorney efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity. They are essential to the success of our team and our firm. All DBL employees operate under a ‘client first’ philosophy, in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our client.
This paralegal will support a variety of functions in our firm including contracts management, labor and employment, workers compensation, and transactional matters. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of legal processes and be capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contracts:
- Draft, review, and revise contracts, agreements, and related legal documents.
- Maintain and manage contract databases and tracking systems.
- Assist with contract negotiation and lifecycle management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Provide support on employment-related matters, including disciplinary actions, terminations, and workplace investigations.
- Assist in responding to administrative agency charges (EEOC, DOL, etc.)
- Conduct research on federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with HR, insurance providers, and legal counsel regarding claims.
- Monitor claim status and maintain related documentation.
- Assist in preparing documentation for hearings and settlements.
- Ensure timely filing and compliance with applicable laws.
- Support corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, or reorganizations.
- Assist in due diligence reviews and organization of corporate documents.
- Prepare closing checklists and assemble closing binders.
- Maintain corporate records, filings, and entity management.
COMPETENCY AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Certification or degree in Paralegal studies (Bachelor’s degree preferred) or equivalent legal support experience.
- Proficiency with the following software products:
- MS Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Nuance PDF Converter (bates stamping, redaction, editing, combing PDFs)
- iManage/WorkSite (Maintain client matter files in paper or electronically as directed by attorney, scanning and adding hyperlink documents to indexes)
- Secure e-mail
- Investigative mindset for strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent professional communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to proofread for grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, and content.
- Ability to prioritize and monitor deadlines while working on multiple matters, with a sense of ownership
