POSITION DESCRIPTION
DBL Law is a seeking Paralegal to join our team in Covington, Kentucky. The ideal candidate will be equipped with the knowledge and expertise to support a supervising attorney and enhance attorney efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.  Paralegals  are essential to the success of our team and firm.  All DBL employees operate under a ‘client first’ philosophy, always striving to provide exceptional services to our clients.  


JOB DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Legal Support: Assist attorneys in preparation of client work including closings, hearings and trials; assist with discovery/investigating facts, researching and other miscellaneous duties as needed.
  • Time Management: Effectively prioritize work; monitor deadlines, and track billable hours diligently.
  • Document Management: File and retrieve court documents electronically for State and Federal Court in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, and Bankruptcy courts.
  • Information Management:
    • Organize, index and track files; maintain files in an  organized manner (chronologically, numerically and/or by subject matter).
    • Create, maintain, and retire files according to attorney/client preferences.
    • Assist attorneys in managing client contacts, emails, and hard copy documents.
  • Collaboration: Other duties as assigned, when assigned duties are completed actively seek out additional work and provide assistance to other team member.

COMPETENCY AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Certification or degree in Paralegal studies (Bachelor’s degree preferred) or equivalent legal support experience.
  • Proficiency with the following software products:
    • MS Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
    • Nuance PDF Converter (bates stamping, redaction, editing, combing PDFs)
    • iManage/WorkSite (Maintain client matter files in paper or electronically as directed by attorney, scanning and adding hyperlink documents to indexes)
  • Ability to handle secure e-mail communications
  • Possess an investigative mindset with strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exhibit excellent professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate and attention to detail and ability to proofread for grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, and content.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and monitor deadlines while managing multiple tasks, with a sense of ownership and accountability.
  • A team player who values collaboration and teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain firm and client confidentiality.
